The Ensemble School, a division of Maryland
Ensemble Theatre, is a professional theatrical training program with emphasis on
exploring and refining acting technique and creativity.
The Ensemble School offers classes in Acting, Improvisation, Movement, Theatre
Games, Auditioning and Playwriting. These courses, along with internships though
Maryland Ensemble Theatre, will provide each student with the knowledge and skills needed
to enter the world of professional theatre.
Classes are held in twelve week sessions beginning in September and February.
The Ensemble School will also be offering summer performance camps for middle and
high school students. Regular session classes are available for students aged seven
to adult.
Each twelve week session will culminate in an evening of final work entitled
Twelfth Nite. These performances are open to the public and allow each student the
opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. Regional theatre professionals
are invited to attend all Twelfth Nite performances.
All Ensemble School classes are taught by working theatre professionals.
I started taking classes from The Ensemble School when they first opened their doors on
October 2, 1995. I took three years of classes and then taught improv classes for a year. Call The Ensemble School at
301-694-4744 to sign up for their next class! Since the first day of my first acting
class, I knew I never wanted to be anything else but an actor for the rest of my
life. Click here to find out how I got into acting classes
in the first place.
